Details: Dr. Roy R. Carriker is Professor of Food and Resource Economics at the Indian River Research and Education Center. His principle area of expertise is natural resource and environmental policy, economics, and law. He joined the faculty at the University of Florida in 1977, and for the past fifteen years he has taught Natural Resource and Environmental Policy at both the undergraduate and the graduate levels. Dr. Carriker's appointment with the University of Florida is statewide. He provides leadership and outreach education through the Florida Cooperative Extension Service on the interpretation of pubic policy as it pertains to Florida's environment and natural resources. He was the founding director of the Florida Natural Resources Leadership Institute, which teaches mid-career natural resource professionals about dispute resolution and conflict management in the context of environmental issues. Dr. Carriker brings to IRREC many years of teaching experience in the US as well as abroad. He was a visiting professor at Southwest University in the People's Republic of China where he taught a graduate course in natural resource economics. During the visit, he began discussions to develop a faculty and student exchange program between the UF and the Chinese university. |
